Welcome to Tariq’s Big Financial blog!

Welcome to Tariq’s Big Financial Blog!  I’ll be using wordpress to discuss current market trends, news, and developments in a variety of subjects namely dealing with infrastructure finance, corporate law, project finance law, emerging markets, infrastructure development, and the global construction industry to name a few. Conversely, the majority of this blog will be discussing the current financial developments in the Project Finance and Public-Private Partnership Industry and occasional outlier thoughts on other subjects that may be relevant to the subject.

Why am I doing this ?

As a self-professed young academic “nerd” that loves to read and critically analyze a multitude of financial and economic situations I thought starting this blog would be a great way to share my comprehension and thoughts on a breadth of topics relevant to the financial world. I am passionate about the creation of Infrastructure and using finance to facilitate growth.

Who is my blog for?

My audience is for anyone or any firm that is interested in Public-Private Partnership Developments all over the world in various capital markets and the opportunities that will be arising from these markets in the contemporary period and within the next 10 to 20 years. My hope is to reach out to friends, colleagues, academia, and professionals both within the financial world and out i.e.  major infrastructure firms, bank lenders, government agencies, policymakers, thinktanks, international law firms, financial advisory firms, strategic/management consultancy firms, large investment banks, boutique investment banks, private equity firms, venture capital firms,  startups, real estate development firms, and general firms interested in the subject matter.

Please feel free to share this blog to any parties as this is a public space. Secondly, if you are a colleague and would like for me to share certain pieces of information, do not hesitate to ask!

Why is Project Finance and Public-Private Partnerships important?

I view these subjects as highly important as they spur and encourage immense economic development. The creation of infrastructure is one of the defining traits of mankind. Infrastructure development has helped elevate modern civilization to new levels of achievement. However, finding adequate capital to keep up with the need for growth is an important question for us to answer. Thus, Project Finance and Public-Private Partnerships are avenues and ways to help continue these developments.

My master’s dissertation was on “The Implication of the Application of Public-Private Partnerships Regarding Infrastructure Projects and Developments in Emerging Islamic Financial Markets”. The thesis can be read on this blog.

I’ve attended various academic conferences and lectures on finance and infrastructure at institutions that include Harvard University, Yale University, Columbia University, the London School of Economics, Oxford University, and University College London to broaden my outlooks.
